Introduction

While searching for all-season tires for light trucks and SUVs I came across an interesting option coming in from BFGoodrich, the Advantage T/A Sport LT tires. These are all-season all-purpose tires that are specifically designed to deliver a perfect performance in all conditions. The manufacturer has backed all the claims with numbers and all left for us is to test them, before starting I should state that I am extremely hopeful of these tires, but like everything it can prove us wrong, so let’s find out.

Target Audience

Shortly said, the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT tires are a great set of crossover, SUV and light truck touring tires for all seasons. These promise to deliver handling and responsiveness at all times, on top of that they seem to be extremely fun to drive around with since confidence equals fun in the roads. So if you are looking for a great set of tires for your SUV or light truck and want something that won’t let you down, at all conditions, then I think that you are in the right place. Stick around to see what these tires are all about.

Specs and Features

When you look at the spec sheet and the feature list of the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT tires they promise a lot of things that are desirable for a lot of drivers, especially for those that want the most confidence when they are driving and durability above all. One thing that is super impressive with the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT is that it comes at different sizes which are compatible with rims ranging from 16 to 20-inches in size. I should also mention that it comes in T, H, and V speed ratings, which should be excellent for most light trucks and SUVs, without posing any problem.

To inspire confidence the company has added a 65,000-mile tread warranty with these tires so your head can stay focused on the road. The BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT tires have the 3-peak snowflake emblem, which is a testament that it has passed and exceeded. severe snow service requirements, something you do not see every day in all-season tires. The Aqua-Flume technology is designed to prevent hydroplaning, by dispersing the water through the sweeping cross grooves of the tires. The design is also symmetrical and combined with the ETEC system technology the stability and handling should be over the top.

I should also state that these tires have a two-ply polyester body casing, g-Wedge sidewall stabilizer, and nylon reinforced steel belts in its construction. All these should at the very least make these tires extremely durable and moreover deliver more traction on the road, at least on paper. Let’s check out how they look and perform.

First Impression

Right from the get-go, I was impressed with these tires as these promise a lot more than you would imagine. They look rugged and ready for action. the tread pattern is also exceptional and I felt that I can live with these without a problem.

The installation was rather smooth and the sizing was right for my SUV, no problems there. The first drive was an interesting experience, at least in dry conditions, but it really inspired confidence, but then again after the break-in phase, the results should be apparent.

Testing

After the break-in phase, I put these tires through various tests in different conditions. I tried pushing them beyond their limits in dry conditions, and they didn’t slip which is super impressive. They delivered excellent traction and stability through cornering, something that all tires for SUVs should have. Braking and accelerating were extremely smooth and it delivered desirable results in all testing.

Going to wet conditions these were perfect tires for rainy days, no slipping and it was the same performance without a doubt as in dry asphalt. Tight cornering was great and no wheel spinning at all when I tried some aggressive starting and stopping, traction galore in these. I should also state that the hydroplaning as not an issue and they kept contact in all the scenarios.

If you remember the rating that I stated earlier you would expect these to fare well in snow and ice, and they really did. While they are not as good as a pair of dedicated winter tires, they were better than most all-season all-purpose tires in the market. What bothered me the most was that these tires were not comfortable and were noisy, which might not be a problem for heavier SUVs but for lighter cars, it is a big problem.

All in all, these are great tires for cars such as the BMW X5 and other SUVs in that category.

Verdict

Coming to the end I can definitely say that if you own an SUV or a light truck these are some of the best tires for climates with mostly dry weather but that get some occasional rain. Then again a set of these won’t cost you a fortune, and for the durability, they are well worth it. If you want a little more traction and performance when you are driving on your SUV these are your best bet.
