Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring Review

Last Updated on July 18, 2021 by Stephen Tillman

While looking at different tires in the market, I got pretty interested in some touring tires that came from Uniroyal. A company owned by Michelin and Continental has been one of the most underrated players in the market, but the Tiger Paw Touring seemed pretty interesting. The Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring tires are designed to deliver reliable performance for all four seasons, durability with at least 55K miles of treadwear limited warranty and a lot of sizes for compatibility. Since it captured our curiosity, let’s take a deeper look into this beast.

Main Features Of The Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring

Target Audience

If I have to explain these tires with briefly I would say that these are some inexpensive all-season tires with an M+S rating, that promise to do well even in ice and snow. While it has some downsides for the price that it comes at they can be overlooked, but we’ll talk about them later. I wanted to see whether or not these tires really can deliver the promised performance for the price that they come at, and if you are looking for a pair of reliable tires without spending a lot of money these should be top-notch overall.

Specs and Features

These tires come with a spec sheet and features list that will make owners of super expensive tire sets jealous. To be honest, I am quite surprised, and I am sure that you will be as well, so let’s see what it offers. One of the things that impressed me the most was that these tires come in sizes that are compatible with rim sizes that span from 14 to 17-inches.

Also, they come in different widths ranging from 175mm to 235mm with an excellent aspect ratio of 50 to 70. These also come in different speed ratings, including T which is the most popular and is suitable for speeds up to 118mph, which I think is the best one for these tires. On top of that, they deliver H or V speed ratings for high-speed performance cars, but then again they are not the best choice. The T rated tires deliver a limited warranty for treadwear up to 70,000 miles.

This durability comes with the Durashield Construction that is constructed from two steel belts, insulated belt edge strips, and thick inner liners. These features all result in better resistance against puncture and deliver better traction, at least in theory, which we will see during the testing phase.

First Impression

To be honest, upon the first impression I didn’t expect anything much from these tires, as they looked pretty generic. The thread looked pretty generic as well and I didn’t have much of an expectation after this, I felt pretty disappointed.

For the sake of this review, I installed them on a Kia Optima, and the installation went pretty smoothly, and things started to look brighter. When I hit the road with these in dry roads I felt pretty safe, to say the least, however, it was still too early to come to conclusions before testing them in different conditions.

Testing

You should know that if you are buying all-season tires you probably expect most of your driving to be in the dry, but want to be ready for wet or icy conditions. On dry conditions at least these tires are excellent, handling was great and I pushed these to their limits, allowing me to take sharp speedy corners without losing traction. The tread block design worked very well and it provided a superb braking performance, exceeding all my expectations.

In the wet conditions which were my biggest area of concern, the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring tires were pretty good. Going through puddles and rain was pretty good and I didn’t lose confidence at all. The rounded channels on the tires kept te contact at all times. However, coming to the snow and ice, these were mediocre at best, then again these are not dedicated winter tires, and this is as good as it gets.

On another note, I noticed that the noise was a bit annoying at most times. However, it was still comfortable to dry around even for longer road trips no complaints, except a little noise.

Verdict

After all the testing I feel confident that these tires will be the perfect set of all-season tires that will not cost you a fortune. If you are not searching for performance tires or some dedicated season tires, I think that you will be more than happy with the Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring tires. Top-notch, value over everything.
